After a year and half with very limited human connection, we’re craving it. So we’re just going to get right into it this week and lean into a cozo many people deem as taboo. Or is it? What if science taught us that sparking up a conversation with someone you don’t know actually has many psychological benefits—like improving one’s sense of comfort, belonging and overall elevated mood. It can also help us learn things we may not have known before, opening our eyes and minds to something new.

Before diving into this cozo, we highly recommend reading an excerpt from the recently published book, The Power of Strangers: The Benefits of Connecting in a Suspicious World via The Atlantic: The Surprising Benefits of Talking to Strangers

A good fit for you, if:

  • You tend to avoid talking to strangers whenever possible

  • You find value in learning about different people and perspectives

  • You crave a sense of community and belonging
