Our mission is to empower people to discover, experience, and grow into better versions of themselves.
A message from the founder
Hi, I’m Rose, the founder of Cozo. The concept of Cozo (short for comfort zone) originated several years ago, when I was living in San Francisco, feeling dissatisfied with my life. I craved more adventure, more learning, more growth. As someone in constant search of new activities and experiences, it felt like I was standing still. I realized I hadn’t been out of my comfort zone in what felt like a long time and wondered if this was what people meant when they say they feel “stuck.” I began to learn about positive psychology and was fascinated by research on human fulfillment. Everything I read reaffirmed what I had been thinking and feeling: there’s so much more to life than having a good job and stable income. It became clear that a key ingredient to the happiness recipe includes new experiences and challenges.
I started challenging myself in different ways. I moved to New York City, shaved my head, went on three service trips to Haiti, Senegal, and Nepal, and faced a lot of fears. In those moments, I felt more alive than ever. I wanted to continue finding ways to get out of my comfort zone and felt inspired to help others do the same. I created Cozo to make it more possible for people to discover, experience, and grow, with the grand vision of fostering self-fulfillment in the world.
My hope is that we all get a little more comfortable being uncomfortable. So harness your inner curiosity. Take risks. Embrace the unknown. Lean into fear. Make every day count. And let’s have some fun along the way.
How it works
1️⃣ Explore
We have a variety of cozos ranging in three levels of difficulty. Pick something that is both interesting and challenging.
2️⃣ Commit to it
Once you decide on a cozo and commit to trying it, we provide step-by-step guidance. Do it solo or grab a pal.
3️⃣ Finish, and feel good
Finish the cozo and savor that feel-good emotion of achievement. Then move onto your next cozo and keep growing.
An intro to Cozo
Research shows that those who seek out new experiences feel more fulfilled and that trying new things benefits the mind and body, helping us stay young, mentally and physically.
Our guiding principles
Practice makes progress.
No, not perfect. We believe anyone is capable of progress, as long as they put in the time and effort. After all, a growth mindset takes us further than a fixed one.
Knowledge is power.
The human mind can stretch beyond unimaginable limits. The more we seek out knowledge, the more we understand the world, and the bigger our world becomes.
Novelty transforms us.
Every new experience shapes us. Just as a curious, young child is amazed with every new encounter, we continuously seek out novel experiences that transform us.
Change is constant.
It’s okay to change. Change your mind. Change your values. Change your lifestyle. We embrace change, knowing it’s a necessary part of the journey.
