We all the know the feeling of those butterflies in the stomach when we’re face-to-face with a new challenge… that moment when you’re at a crossroad of fear and excitement. Whether you’re pushing your body to new limits, trying a new hobby, or embarking on your next thrill, getting out of our comfort zone changes us for the better.

As social media usage continues to skyrocket, the World Happiness Report has indicated that happiness and life satisfaction are declining. Experts are beginning to study how an excess in social media may contribute to negative emotions such as anxiety and depression.

We feel more fulfilled when we try new things and push ourselves out of our comfort zones. According to Dr. Kathryn Papp, a neuropsychologist & instructor in neurology at Harvard Medical School, new experiences lead to actual changes in the human brain. That means we have the capacity to activate new connections in the brain through new experiences and the more we do this, the happier, healthier, and more fulfilled we feel.
