Step-by-step guide
OK, let’s get started.
Step 1: Explore RAK ideas
There are many different ways to spread kindness. The first thing you’ll want to do is explore kindness ideas. The official Random Acts of Kindness Foundation is the perfect resource. Check out their list of kindness ideas HERE. We recommend mixing up your RAK by doing one for a friend/family member, another for a coworker, and another for neighbor/stranger. Of course, you’re encouraged to do what makes the most sense for you!
Just remember that the goal for this cozo is a minimum of three acts of kindness in one week.
A few of our personal favorites include:
Send an encouraging email to a coworker
Gift an inspirational book to a friend or family member
Compliment a stranger on how well they parked their car
Bake something for your neighbor
Step 2: Pick a few you want to do
Pick a few you would like to do this week or come up with new ideas yourself. Then write them down.
Step 3: Decide when you will do them
To make sure you’re holding yourself accountable, consider when you will actually be able to do them. Keep your list in a place you can see it so you keep your random acts of kindness top of mind throughout the day.
Step 4: Make kindness the norm
The ultimate goal of this cozo is to build kindness into our everyday lives. By doing what seems like small acts, you’re actually making a big difference. If we all collectively are more kind to each other, that helps foster a happier, brighter, and more peaceful world.
Take RAK to the next level
If you’re looking for even more of a challenge with random acts of kindness, the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation has developed an official kindness challenge.
Here’s what the challenge entails:
You are given a worksheet with 60 hearts—your goal is to fill all 60 hearts by doing random acts of kindness.
You are given a list of RAK activities that you can do and they’re grouped by varying difficulty levels. Depending on the difficulty level, you are awarded one heart, two hearts, or three hearts.
